The Gallup Strengths Center classifies 34 Strengths Themes into four domains. In this article, we will discuss the Relationship Building domain, which considers how an individual builds and nurtures strong relationships.

The Influencing Strengths

Adaptability

  • These people are good at going with the flow.
  • When the Adaptability strength is overused, these people may struggle in roles that involve structure and predictability and in shaping long term goals.

Connectedness

  • These people are good at maintaining faith in the links between events as well as meaning in different situations.
  • When the Connectedness strength is overused, these people may have a hard time persuading others to see the situation from their complex viewpoints.

Developer

  • These people are good at recognizing and cultivating potential in others.
  • When the Developer strength is overused, these people may have the tendency to over support someone who is struggling.

Empathy

  • These people are good at picturing themselves in the other person’s situation in order to understand their perspective.
  • When the Empathy strength is overused, these people tend to be overly forgiving and may find it difficult to be firm with the other person.

Harmony

  • These people are good at soliciting consensus and agreement from others.
  • When the Harmony strength is overused, these people find it difficult to manage conflict and tension between parties.

Includer

  • These people are good at accepting others and making them feel included.
  • When the Includer strength is overused, these people tend to struggle to deliver news that may hurt someone’s feelings.

Individualization

  • These people are good at pinpointing the unique qualities of the other person.
  • When the Individualization strength is overused, these people may find it difficult to deal with situations that insist on equal treatment among the group.

Positivity

  • These people are good at getting others excited.
  • When the Positivity strength is overused, these people may come off as naive.

Relator

  • These people are good at developing deep relationships with others.
  • When the Relator strength is overused, these people find it difficult to handle situations where they have been let down.
